The hardest nights
need a plan.
Pain narrows what you can think of. That is what it does, and it is not a character flaw. A safety plan is written on an ordinary day so that on the worst one you are following your own handwriting instead of trying to think clearly through the noise.
- Catch it earlier. Name the signals that show up before the worst of it, so the plan starts working while you can still use it.
- Have the words ready. A prepared sentence for telling someone, because finding the words is the part people get stuck on.
- Put time and distance in place. Practical, temporary steps that make the surroundings safer while the wave passes.
Your plan is ready.
